Dear Grand Brand,
2016 has been the best year of my life so far. It has been the year with the most changes and growth, and starting my first job experience has been a huge part of that. I can say with confidence that I have never been closer to feeling happy and proud of the person that I am becoming and the place I’ve arrived at.
It's hard for me to put 2016 into words. Of course not all has been good, but I understand now that ups and downs are just part of the natural course of life. Working here has been one of this year's greatest ups.
The modern workplace culture was one of my favorite parts. Grand Brand & Co is enthusiastic and passionate about what it does and reflects the young spirit, approachability and professionalism of its founders. Tirsa and Eric are both wonderful human beings: hard working, down-to-earth, kind and outgoing, which I feel is projected in the culture of the company.
I believe one of the keys to your success is you believe in the power of teamwork and collaboration. I always felt welcomed, encouraged and well supported at this beautiful office. Needless to say, the facilities are fantastic, it is such a welcoming environment where you feel at home. And you're doing what you love.
Writing and reading are activities I have always enjoyed in my personal life. To me, there is something so special about writing. I’m constantly reading quotes on Instagram that send chills through my spine or crying about some Taylor Swift lyric that I can totally relate to.
Because I truly believe there's something so special about writing. One of my favorite quotes says “it is an underestimated art, you are painting colorful images in people's minds by using words of black and white”. That being said, it is such a dream come true for me to be writing professionally.
I gained so much from this experience. Not only did I gain work practice, I discovered that I very much enjoy copywriting. I developed so many abilities and discovered myself as a professional writer. Although I didn't know what to expect at first, I soon fell in love with the job and the industry.
As a job, copywriting allows me to be both practical and creative. I like comparing it to searching Pinterest for your favorite posts and pinning them into one board. Basically, you're researching all kinds of super interesting things and then finding engaging ways to put that information together.
For this internship I read about social media, celebrities, politics, cities, restaurants, TV shows, tourism, philosophy, current news, business, advertising, the debate over whether people can change, you name it. I learned something new everyday at the office. I saw how branding is everywhere and I learned to think about the world in different ways.
I am thankful for having a positive and renewed perspective of life and of myself through the time I’ve spent working here. I am beyond grateful for this opportunity and look forward to continue doing what I love, at a beautiful office, alongside wonderful people.
Thank you Grand Brand, it has been a pleasure being part of the team.
Natalia, your copywriting intern.
